ITS ALL ABOUT THE WOOD.

Achieving an exceptional piece of furniture involves far more than simply ordering timber from a merchant and hoping for the best. To create truly remarkable results, we carefully source our sustainable English hardwoods from trusted local sawmills.

The availability and characteristics of each type of wood significantly influence the design and final outcome. In many ways, it is the timber itself that guides the creative process.

All of our wood is air-dried for a minimum of three years, followed by an additional three to five weeks of kiln drying. This meticulous approach ensures a stable and reliable material with which to work.

We embrace the natural imperfections found in the timber, often turning these so-called defects into striking features that enhance the overall beauty and uniqueness of each piece.

While we may specify the use of particular wood types in our designs, variations in availability and quality mean this can change. A prime example is spalted beech, which can vary dramatically depending on how long the fungus has been allowed to develop within the wood, an element that deeply influences both its appearance and suitability.

Because exceptional wood is a rare and valuable resource, we believe in using every piece to its fullest potential.

While making our signature furniture pieces, some wood inevitably goes unused. Rather than letting it go to waste, we thoughtfully repurpose these offcuts into elegant, functional items—such as chopping boards, serving trays, and other refined household accessories. Each piece carries the same craftsmanship and attention to detail as our larger creations, ensuring nothing beautiful is ever lost.
